Regional Outstanding Student Fellowship
The Southeastern Transportation Center (STC) is the Region 4 University Transportation Center (UTC) and is headquartered at the University of Tennessee. The 10-member consortium consists of the University of Tennessee, the University of Kentucky, Vanderbilt University, North Carolina Chapel Hill, North Carolina State, North Carolina A&T, Georgia State, Georgia Tech, the University of Florida and the University of South Florida.
The STC is seeking nominations for its newly established Regional Outstanding Student Fellowship (ROSF) competition. This fellowship is open to US citizens or permanent residents that are pursing an undergraduate or graduate degree in a transportation-related field at a non-STC/UTC university in the southeastern region. The STC will fund up to five fellowships per year. The yearly funding is $12,000 ($4,000 per semester) for undergraduate students and $16,800 ($5,600 per semester) for graduate students, and must be reviewed for renewal each semester.

Impact statement
Academic performance is based on courses taken and grades attained. Eligible candidates must have a 3.00/4.00 GPA to be considered.
Professionalism and Leadership can be in the form of presentations at professional society meeting/symposia, leadership in professional activities and community volunteer projects.
Technical merit is based on faculty nominations, evaluations of submitted papers or reports, and the nomineeÕs personal history and impact statement. The personal history should be a one-page written exposition of the nomineeÕs background. It should describe the nominee as a person and include how their background has shaped their education, experience, current responsibilities and special interests. The impact statement should state how receiving this scholarship would affect future contributions to the nomineeÕs personal growth as a leader, their profession, their community and the STC consortium.
Deadline for submittal is Monday, July 28, 2008. Awards will be announced Monday August 25, 2008 and the scholarship year can begin in September of 2008.
Reviews must be completed each semester for continuation of funding. The review will consist of an academic transcript of courses completed for the previous semester and a written update from the nominating faculty.
